Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is the President of Bradesco, one of the largest financial institutions in Brazil. He was appointed the president of Bradesco Group in March of 2009. Coincidentally, the company had just lost the position of the largest banking institution to its closest competitor, Itaú Unibanco.
During an interview after his appointment to the position of president of Bradesco, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi said that under his stewardship, the company would concentrate on providing quality services to the people of the municipalities it serves and expressed disinterest in competing for the top position. However, in 2015, Bradesco bought the Brazilian branch of HSBC in a move perceived to be an attempt for the market leader position.

Reclaiming the Top Position
By maintaining market leadership in the country, Bradesco attracted a lot of honour and admiration in the country. The fact that the company lost the top position didn’t auger well with its top leadership. The biggest challenge was that the company was in no position to expand and challenge the current market leader. That is why upon his ascension to the position of president, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was careful not to make any promises of reclaiming the lead position in the market.
