The Diverse Drive of Dr. David Samadi

Celebrity doctor and leading urologic oncologist, Dr. David Samadi allocates his attention to advanced minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer.

He is currently the Chairman of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. Previously he practiced at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Samadi specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, kidney cancer and bladder cancer. He also is a leader in Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy and has carried out more than 7,000 robotic prostate surgeries.

According to Dr. Samadi, the best way to prevent prostate cancer is to get tested and be sure your doctor checks to determine whether or not there are any nodules or abnormalities.

He recently recognized former Republican presidential nominee, Mitt Romney for making it known that he underwent prostate surgery last summer. He also was aware that former Secretary of State Colin Powell and US presidential candidate John Kerry were treated with surgery and have done well.

Dr. Samadi emphasized that patients do better with surgery compared to radiation treatment.

Dr. Samadi is also the host of Sunday House Call on Fox News Channel, a radio program on am970 and a website to blog about health issues and news. Sunday House Call, which streams live every Sunday from 12:30 – 1:30 EST, deals with issues that include marijuana legalization, men and women’s health and exercise, prostrate health and more.

He has also been acknowledged in the Best Doctors issue of New York Magazine in 2009 and recognized as Castle Connolly Top Doctors, America’s Top Doctors for cancer and New York Magazine Best Doctor and more.

Dr. Samadi was born and raised in Iran but at the age of 15, he and his brother Dan, were forced to leave their Persian Jewish community after the revolution. Estranged from their family, the brothers started a new life in Belgium and London before traveling to the United States.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Stony Brook University and completed his residency in general surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and urology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
